The C.G. Jung Foundation presents
Sandplay
a daylong Basic Intensive Professional Development Program
led by
Rosalind Winter, C.S.W.

Friday, October 29, 2004
10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Sandplay Therapy as developed by Dora Kalff is a therapeutic process based on the psychology of C.G. Jung. It is a treatment process that can offer both healing of preverbal issues and movement along the path to individuation.

This basic intensive program will focus on the use of sandplay therapy in a depth psychotherapy and analytic process. We will focus on the exploration of how sandplay complements the analytic process and how it differs from classical Jungian analysis. Throughout the program, we will use lecture, discussion, experientials, and sandplay case material.

The curriculum will include:

  • A brief history of Sandplay and its development from a Jungian model of the psyche
  • Jungian theory as it applies to sandplay, particularly the dynamics of the psyche and the individuation process
  • Practical considerations of adding sandplay to your practice
  • Introduction of sandplay to clients
  • A beginning understanding of how to view sandtrays
  • An overview of the role of sandtrays in the transference/countertransference field

Rosalind Winter is a Jungian analyst and a member of Sandplay Therapists of America and The International Society for Sandplay Therapy. She is on the Board and Faculty of the C.G. Jung Institute of New York. She directs a training program in Symbol Formation (an adaptation of Sandplay Therapy for Schools) for the Counselors of the Ground Zero Schools in New York City. Ms. Winter runs colloquia and supervision groups on Sandplay Therapy in New York City and Montclair, New Jerey. Ms. Winter will be assisted by Kate Adams. Ms. Adams is a member of the Sandplay Therapists of America and The International Society for Sandplay Therapy, and she has a therapy practice in Manhattan and in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. Both Ms. Winter and Ms. Adams have written numerous pieces for The Journal of Sandplay Therapy.

Upon completion of the course, students will be granted 5 credit hours towards STA certification.
