Workshops and Seminars
Honoring our Grief Dreams
a daylong workshop led by Saturday, October 23, 2010 This program will begin with a brief summary of the role of dreams in the mourning process. Dreams occurring before and after the death of a loved one play an essential role in healing. Vivid dream images of the dead often function as mediators between the "under-world" of the unconscious and the "upper world" of consciousness. In this workshop, we will examine the so-called "stages of grief," the objective/subjective interpretation of grief dreams, and the numinous nature of "visitation dreams." Some of Jung's dreams, as recorded in Memories, Dreams, Reflections, will provide material for discussion. There will be time for individual reflection and journaling, as well as for group comments and interaction. Susan Olson, LCSW, a graduate of the C. G. Jung Institute (Zurich) and a training analyst in the Inter-Regional Society of Jungian Analysts, practices in Atlanta, Georgia. She has presented many programs on dreams and the mourning process, and her book By Grief Transformed was published by Spring Journal Books in February, 2010.
