Workshops and SeminarsThe C.G. Jung Foundation presents
a daylong seminar led by Saturday October 24, 2009 Tao’s working of things is vague and obscure Lao-Tzu. Quoted by C.G. Jung in In October, there will be the long-awaited publication of C.G. Jung’s Red Book, the work of active imagination developed by Jung over many years. In celebration of this publication, this workshop offers a chance to look at active imagination: its purpose, its methods, and its value in the process of individuation. Jung called imagination “active, purposeful creation,” that can be used to consciously access the unconscious, producing “those contents of the unconscious which lie, as it were, immediately below the threshold of consciousness and, when intensified, are the most likely to erupt spontaneously into the conscious mind.” Jung notes that those engaged in active imagination can “begin to draw, to paint, or to shape their images plastically … they can also be expressed in writing.” Participants will have an opportunity to experiment with several different ways of working with active imagination. Julie Bondanza, PhD, is a licensed psychologist with a practice in the Metropolitan Washington DC area. She is a graduate of the C.G. Jung Institute of New York, where she is member of the teaching faculty and past Curriculum chair. She is also on the faculty of The Interregional Society of Jungian Analysts, for whom she has frequently taught. She is a member of the Jungian Analysts of Washington Association, where she is a past Director of Education and where she is a frequent instructor.
